Deep Thought

Whenever tech writers say something is going to be the "next killer app," it increases the probability that the app will fade into obscurity.

TUCOWS: Long Past Their Prime

Remember when I posted this with the ridiculous TUCOWS wait time for free software submissions?  Well, it took a little less time (only 13 months, in fact), but here is what I got from them.

Dear author,

Thank you for submitting your software for distribution on www.tucows.com.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept your program at this time for the
following reason(s):

1)  The download file URL was unavailable.

Please resubmit your program once this issue has been resolved.
Further information on our policies and review criteria can be
found in the Author Resource Center.

If you would like to provide a link to www.tucows.com from your Web site,
please use one of the images available in ARC. Below is the HTML code you will
need. Simply replace "IMAGE_NAME_HERE" with the name of the image you have
selected.  http://www.tucows.com">border="0">

Thank you for choosing Tucows.

Sincerely,
The Tucows Review Team

Awesome.  I have no idea what they are talking about.  RD Tabs is quite available from all the download links I know of.  Like I'm going to bother resubmitting to them after they screwed up.  Does anybody even visit that site anymore?  I probably get more evangelism for RD Tabs from misspelled searches than I ever would from TUCOWS.

I have a new slogan for them.  TUCOWS: The world's best directory of Windows 95 software.

That's about all it is good for nowadays.

Meanwhile, I just submitted 2.1.20 for download.com.  Based on their average turn-around, it should be there in a few weeks. :-)

P.S. Please rate RD Tabs on download.com.  Be honest!
