Membership has its priveleges
Being the resident Microsoft geek at work has earned me my company purchasing TechNet Plus membership with
Microsoft. Because of this, I am able to install Microsoft server products for evaluation or "test lab"
purposes. My home network is made of old workstations turned into servers. I then installed various
Microsoft products we use at work, where I can tinker to my heart's content. All the while testing patches,
products, scripts, new management products, and new administrative policies and methods for work.
It's the best of both worlds. I can legally install server products
and use them to test at home. Thank you, Microsoft!
Please note that the systems I use for production
purposes (such as my music workstation and laptop) have fully compliant non-demo licensed versions of Windows
XP. I just want to make it clear that I am not violating the TechNet terms of use for Microsoft products. :-)
