Latest version of RDTabs. When opening the program, and when creating new tab, quite often the textboxes for username etc are not there! The tab opens completely blank. Have tried reinstalling/repairing. No change.

With this and your other problem (disappearing menu bar) it sounds like a problem I had waaaaay back when with a beta version of the 2.0 framework where a lot of the default controls (eg, text boxes, labels, radio buttons, menus) didn't draw under certain conditions. Have you ever experienced this problem with any other .Net framework app? Do you use any other framework apps? (do you know?)

I could only fix it by uninstalling every .Net Framework version (including 1.0 and 1.1), clearing out the C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net folder, and then reinstalling the frameworks.

Let me know if you've ever used any other beta versions of the framework.

It may not hurt to "reinstall over" the 2.0 redistributable package just in case. (without uninstalling anything, just for a shot)

I gave it a try.....had to jump through some major hoops to get .NET 2.0 uninstalled/reinstalled, but I still get the same problem. On opening the program, it normally shows the login details area, but any subsequent tabs opened do not. Menu bar is still disappearing until I move the mouse over the menu area. Have gone back to version 1 for the moment.

I've tried but I can't replicate this error. I'm not sure what it is about RD Tabs 2.0.8 that's causing this. Version 1.1.4 of RD Tabs doesn't exhibit this behavior? Do you have any other PC that you can test 2.0.8 on?

Are you using XP or Vista or Server? Can't remember if you ever told me...

Can you show me a screen capture?

Does any other application do this?

Version 1.1.4 doesn't do it - it works properly every time. I am using Windows XP SP2. No other applications exhibit this type of behavior. 1 thing that has caused problems for me in the past - I run my system using 'large fonts'. This causes plenty of programs to misbehave - text that doesn't fit into dialog boxes is the most common problem. I'll try it on another PC. I can supply a screen shot.....where do I send it to?

Use the contact form on this website and I'll reply back with a real email address to shoot the screen shots to. Very curious about this problem but I can't replicate it...

I was wondering if this issue has been resolved?
I am experiencing the exact same issues.
And I too have to revert back to 1.1.4
Thanks

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to replicate this issue in a test environment so I don't know how to fix it (or if it's fixable). Do you have this problem with any other applications?

I am getting similar situation. Running 2.0.13 on Vista and the tool bar up top and tabs are mssing until I mouse over it. The ride side of the tab up top never does look right or function correctly. I removed .Net 3 and reinstalled but that did nothing. Also when I look at windows task manager it shows RD Tabs 2.0.12 running and RD Tabs Resource Manager Running as well which I find quite odd.

On a side note some of my fonts for the default desktop are weird too. Default font in outlook is weird and I can't change it unless I can find a registry hack. These issues I think may be related. I have spent hours trying to fix the darn font thing as the font that is loaded sucks and is driving me batty. Not trying to brag, but I am a MCSE 2000 & 2003 so I know my way around windows, but this has got me stumped.

Any helpw would be much appreciated. I think I may have to upgrade my laptop to XP as vista has been nothing but issues. 😣

It could be related. The tabs (and only the tabs right now) are drawn using a custom control that overrides a lot of .Net things. If you see that disappearing, I might be able to fix it. If Microsoft controls like the textboxes, labels, menus, etc. disappear, it might not be so easy. The problems you mention COULD be related. I would definitely investigate any two seemingly unrelated applications that are not rendering graphics correctly. One clue might be GDI. The tabs are rendered using GDI calls.

I run RD Tabs in Vista at home with no problems. Vista may smoke on new hardware, but, unfortunately, Vista is hit or miss on old hardware.

I'm not sure why it's reporting 2.0.12 as the version in the task manager... Does it say 2.0.13 everywhere else? The RD Tabs Resource Manager will always run but it's not a visible window, so you can't click into it. It's just there to make sure RD Tabs doesn't crash from a resource crunch.

MCSE too? Sweet. So am I. Apparently we're neighbors too in NC. lol.

I should make a debug version to try to track this sucker down.

Can I get everybody to send me screenshots again, so I can see which controls aren't rendering properly? Just use the contact form on this website and then I'll email you back with a real email address.
