Loving the RD Tabs... keep it up and thank you for sharing.

Is there anyway we could get the import for favorites to accept .csv or other such text files?

Thanks

Hmm. That might get complicated. There are a LOT of fields so a .csv would be really long (column-wise). That's not a coding problem, just may make constructing a .csv file complicated. I'm assuming you want this for, say, Excel or some type of spreadsheet?

You can export and import XML files which you can edit by hand easily. Is that sufficient?

Otherwise, explain to me your idea behind using .csv files. I guess I'm having trouble understanding how one would use that feature.

This particular topic is very close to home for me. It may be taken care of when the ability to clone an existing connection comes into place - but it really just comes down to bulk inserts. Easiest way to understand is explain an example probably :)

There are occasions where I'll get a new customer and need to set up 100 new RDP sessions more or less overnight. Provided to me is usually hostname, IP, server purpose. My concept of this feature would be the ability to bulk insert the basic information which has to change in each import - name I want to call the session, IP address to connect to, and which folder to put it in. Once it's been imported - I can then use the bulk edit tools to set up any of the common informaiton or when profiles come I would expect I could just associate the connections to a profile and be on my way 🙂 The key piece is just the amount of work it takes to get all of the sessions created as favorites when I'm dealing with anything over 40...

Love the product and the fact it's continually getting better :)

Many thanks!!

I see where you are going with this now and it's a good idea. Sort of like how you can make a big list of computers or users and import it into active directory. Let me add that to the list.

Great! Thanks for the quick update!

And yes - just basically a bulk insert with bare essentials with the key being the opportunity for folders, etc 🙂

Check out 2.1.2 alpha. Link here: http://www.avianwaves.co...lt.aspx?g=posts&t=72

Here's the CSV format.

Display Name, Computer Name/IP, Port, Username, Password (clear text), Domain, Connect To Console (value 1 or 0), Security (Legacy RDP = 0, Require TLS = 1, Attempt TLS = 2), Enable Network Level Authentication (value 1 or 0). Use 1 for "true" and 0 for "false." All empty and unsupported settings will use the values in the Default Connection Properties. "Computer Name/IP" is the only REQUIRED field. There is no way to "escape" the comma, so you can't use commas as data in any field.

Example file:

Computer 1,computer1.domain.com,3389,Tim,P@ssw0rd,domain.com,0,0,0
Computer 2,computer2.domain.com,3389,Tim,P@ssw0rd,domain.com,0,0,0
Computer 3,computer3.domain.com,3389,Tim,,domain.com,0,1,0
Computer 4,computer4.domain.com,3389,Tim,,domain.com,0,1,1
Computer 5,computer5.domain.com,4489,Tim,P@ssw0rd,domain.com,0,0,1
Computer 6,computer6,3389,Tim,P@ssw0rd,domain.com,1,1,0
Computer 7,computer7,3399,Tim,P@ssw0rd,domain.com,1,0,1
Computer 8,computer8.domain.com,33890,,,,,,
Computer 9,computer9.domain.com,3389,,,,,,
Computer 10,computer10.domain.com,3389,,,,,,
Computer 11,computer11.domain.com,,,,,,,
,computer12.domain.com,3389,Tim,P@ssw0rd,domain.com,0,1,0
,computer13.domain.com,3389,Tim,P@ssw0rd,domain.com,0,1,0

P.S., selecting the subfolder in the CSV file will come in a future release!

Was able to add 287 at a time after finessing in excel - saving to CSV and then importing. Only additional note is the all 9 fields are *required* - so just have to put in a bunch of comma's. Also by being able to inherit the "default" properties when the field is left empty and the preview before import made this very painless... Folders would be great but just getting this alone is very helpful...

Figured I'd let you know how it went Thanks again! =d{

Right I should have been more clear. Every field is required, but they can all be left blank EXCEPT computer (which is what I meant by "required" in the previous post). Glad it worked! Folders will come...

Any news on when/if we will get the option to include the folder name on the CSV?
