Hi Timothy,

Maybe I found a bug on RDTabs. I'm using the 2.1.16 version and I have a folder structure on my Favorites.

For example:

DOMAIN A
----------> e-Commerce
-------------------------> Server C
-------------------------> Server D
----------> Business Intelligence
-------------------------> Server X
-------------------------> Server Y
-------------------------> Server V

DOMAIN B
-----------> Development
-----------> Test
DOMAIN C
---- Server A
---- Server B

I'm able to rename the folders when I don´t have sub folder structure (in my example, DOMAIN C). If I try to rename the folder DOMAIN A, RDTabs keeps running, running, after 30 minutes I have to kill the RDTabs process on Task Manager. When I relaunch the RDTabs, the Favorites sometimes get messed and sometimes don't. But the renaming never occurs.

Maybe other actions can occur in that structure, in my case I just tried to rename the folder.

Hope this info could be helpfull.

Kind regards,

Fernando
Timothy

I can't reproduce this behavior on 2.1.16. Can you please provide an example with specific names that are not working? for instance, "The root should contain mydomain.com, mydomain.net, and mydomain.org. Under mydomain.com put folders by the name of..." etc... all the way down to the favorites. I will then build out the favorites exactly as described and will be able to see the failure for myself and debug what is happening.

Alternatively, you can export a XML file or RDTSF file from the favorites manager and I can import it and try to reproduce the bug. Note: For security reasons, do not include real computer names and especially not passwords!

Thank you for reporting this bug!

File Attachment(s):
favs.xml (128kb) downloaded 48 time(s).

I fixed the forum so that it accepts uploads now. After posting a message you can click on the "attach" button to add files. I moved what you put in plain text to the file and edited your message to reflect the changes. I will try to replicate your error later today. thanks for the bug report!

I was able to replicate the error. I will now dig into why this is happening!

I figured out why it is happening and have worked out a fix. I need to fix another couple bugs, but an update should be released this week!

Great Timothy.

I'm glad that you did reproduce the error.

I already told you that your applicaiont is awesome in the past, but have to say it again. Actually I'm not able to help you with $$$, donating something, but I'll be glad to help you in other way (documentation, tutorials, videos, translation to portuguese, etc).

Think about it if you want some help and let me know.

Kind regards,

Fernando

Thanks for the offer! Actually, some "how to" videos on YouTube would be pretty cool. I'll take you up on translation if I ever do that. Last time I brought that subject up, I was told to keep it English and instead focus my efforts on new features. 🙂 If demand increases, I will bring it up again...
